My childhood friend Louis and his husband, Sterling, who had performed the wedding of Rosy and myself, had moved to San Antonio the year before and had invited us to their new home.They graciously showed us around for a few days and we met some of Sterling’s family. Of course we saw the Alamo and River Walk in the downtown area. Lots of hotels and restaurants, are in the ares, including a beautifully restored hotel where Teddy Roosevelt recruited his Rough Riders. Nearby the San Antonio Museum of Modern Art is in a converted Lone Star brewery. Further up the river another brewery has been converted to a great hotel, The Emma. the botanical garden and a side trip to Austin the see the Ellsworth Kelly chapel on the grounds of the University of Texas.
